Near or far, there are so many ways you can help bring the gift of books to families in Western North Carolina.
There's a host of ways you can help! You can use the donate button below, or keep reading for the special ways our volunteers can help change people's lives.
Groups like church youth, Boy Scouts, book clubs, or others can fundraise to sponsor a Home Library Kit, which is carefully curated to help families build a starter library. These kits go to families living in remote areas with limited access to public libraries or stores.
Gather your community—friends, schools, churches, or clubs—to collect books for this project! Please ensure that all books are in excellent condition. No books with water damage, torn pages, writing, or excessive wear. Remember, these books are gifts for families, some of whom have lost everything. Let’s honor them by providing quality books that feel like treasures.
Put the fun in fundraising with creative book-themed events! Ideas include:
• Book trivia nights
• Read-a-thons
• Literary tea parties
Share our mission on your social media platforms, blog, or website. Feel free to use any of the graphics from our Facebook page (in connection with the organization name). Awareness is key—your voice can inspire others to get involved.
If you love to sew, knit, or craft, consider making:
• Handmade tote bags for carrying books
• Bookmarks (like corner bookmarks or other creative designs)
These special touches make the gift of books even more meaningful.
Are you gifted with words? Write notes of encouragement or uplifting quotes, and mail them to us. We’ll include them with books to brighten someone’s day even more.
Every contribution, large or small, makes a difference. Reach out to us to get involved or to learn more about how you can support the 21st Century Packhorse Librarian Project!
Together, we can bring the joy of reading to families who need it most. Thank you for your heart to serve!
